The comprehensive diagnostic scan.
A basic OBD scan reads the engine computer and reports whether it has any codes. A modern European or luxury car has dozens of other computers, and the faults that cost the most to fix are recorded in those.
On the Premium package, William connects a professional-grade scanner to every control module the car will talk to and reads what each one has logged. The results go in a diagnostic report attached to the Buyer Report.
- Current, pending and stored fault codes in every module, including faults that never turned on a warning light.
- Readiness monitors, which show whether codes were recently cleared to hide a problem before the sale.
- Freeze-frame data: what the car was doing when a fault was logged.
- Live sensor readings with the engine running.
- The mileage stored in different modules, compared against the odometer.

Light repairs, at your driveway.
If the report turns up brakes, a battery, wipers or similar light work, William can do it where the car is, priced per job. Ask when you book, or call once you've read the report.
The inspection stays independent. The report says what the car needs whether or not you have us do any of it.
Every system rated, every finding photographed.
It opens with a summary of the car's condition and the issues found. Every item is rated good, fair or poor. The photographs at the end are of the car you're looking at.
Summary and issues found
The car's overall condition in a paragraph, the items that need attention, and what's coming up for maintenance. He checks the VIN on the car against the ownership before anything starts.
Road test
Engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, road noise and vibration, each rated good, fair or poor.
Exterior and paint
Paint depth measured on every panel, body damage, rust, glass, lights, mirrors and bumpers.
Under the hood
Fluids, hoses, belts, air filter, radiator, leaks, and engine noise on a cold start and warmed up.
Electrical
Battery test, warning lights, air conditioning and heat, wipers, power seats and the stereo.
Interior
Seats, trim, carpets, windows, headliner, seatbelts and everything on the dash.
Bumper to bumper
Wheels, tires and tread depth, exhaust, trunk, spare tire and jack, owner's manual.
Suspension and steering
Tie rods, ball joints, control arms, wheel bearings, CV shafts, shocks and struts.
Diagnostic scan
Stored and pending fault codes from the car's computer, with the scan report attached.

Commonly asked questions.
Is this a safety certificate?
No. A safety standards certificate confirms that the vehicle met the minimum safety standards on the date it was issued, and it's what lets the car be plated. A pre-purchase inspection covers the whole car: what's worn, what's been repaired, what the computer has logged, and what condition every system is in. Most buyers want both.
Do I need to be there?
No. If the inspection is paid in advance, William goes on his own. You're welcome to come along, and it can be helpful, because he'll show you what he's finding as he works. Either way you get the report and a call to go through it.
How soon can you come, and when do I get the report?
Most inspections happen within 12 to 24 hours of booking, depending on the schedule; same-day is $50 extra. You receive the Buyer Report within 45 minutes of the inspection finishing, pending payment.
What does the seller need to have ready?
The vehicle ownership and a working key. William checks the VIN on the ownership against the VIN on the car before he starts, so the inspection requires it. He'll also ask whether there are two working keys. Mention both to the seller when you agree on a time.
