Terms of service
Last updated September 2026.
These terms apply to every inspection booked with Straightrac Mobile Vehicle Inspections, a business name of Straightrac Ltd. (“Straightrac”, “we”, “us”). By booking an inspection you agree to them.
What the inspection is
A Straightrac inspection is a visual and non-invasive assessment of a used vehicle, carried out at the time and place of the inspection. We look at what is visible and accessible, use a diagnostic scanner to read the vehicle’s stored and pending codes, take measurements, and road-test the vehicle where the seller permits it and the vehicle is insured. We do not dismantle, disassemble or remove any part of the vehicle, and we do not carry out destructive testing.
The report
The Straightrac Buyer Report describes the vehicle’s condition as we found it on the date, time and odometer reading recorded in the report. Used vehicles wear, and can carry faults that are not detectable in a visual inspection. The report is not a warranty, guarantee or certification of the vehicle, and it is not an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.
The condition rating is our professional opinion at the time of the inspection and is to be read together with the itemized findings. Repair estimates are approximate projections based on what was visible; the actual cost of a repair is determined by the shop that does the work after a full diagnosis.
What the inspection does not cover
We do not verify registration, liens, vehicle branding (such as salvage or rebuilt), ownership, accident history, insurance claims, maintenance records, emissions compliance or open recalls. The vehicle history report included with each inspection comes from a third party. It is provided as received and is not guaranteed by us. Vehicles can develop faults at any time after an inspection, including faults that were not present, not detectable or not accessible when the inspection was carried out.
Road tests
We road-test the vehicle only where the seller permits it and the vehicle is plated and insured for the road. Where a road test is not possible, the report says so and the rest of the inspection proceeds.
Ownership and identification
The seller must have the vehicle ownership available at the inspection. We match the vehicle identification number to it before the inspection begins, and if the ownership is not available the inspection does not proceed. We also ask whether two working keys are supplied. Neither step is a verification of title, liens or the seller's right to sell.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Prices are as published on this site, plus HST. Travel outside the GTA and same-day appointments are charged as listed. A deposit of 50% of the price charged, to a maximum of $100, is required to confirm a booking. The balance is due on completion of the inspection, by e-transfer, PayPal or cash, and inspections the buyer will not attend are paid in full in advance. Cheques are not accepted. An invoice is issued for every inspection. The report is released once payment has been made, normally within 45 minutes of the inspection ending. If a booking is cancelled with at least two hours' notice, the deposit is refunded by e-transfer or, at the buyer's request, moved to another vehicle. If a booking is cancelled with less than two hours' notice, or the vehicle is not available or not ready for inspection at the agreed time, the deposit is kept as a credit toward a future inspection.
Your decision
The decision to buy or not to buy a vehicle is yours alone, and you assume the risks of that decision. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of Straightrac Mobile Vehicle Inspections, a business name of Straightrac Ltd. in connection with any inspection or report is limited to the fee paid for that inspection.
